2027 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards

Nominations for the 2027 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards are now open.

To begin your application, click the ‘Next’ button and follow the prompts to answer the questions. You will be asked to select a nomination category.

You can save your progress at any time by clicking the ‘Save’ button. An email will be sent to you with a link to resume your application later.

Some nomination categories require supporting documents to be completed by the nominee and endorsed by their Director of Nursing or Midwifery, Head of Service, or Head of School. Refer to the table below to determine which documents are required for your nomination category. These documents can be downloaded now or later in the form.

Nomination guideline

Who can nominate:
General awards and Excellence in Person Centred Care - Team Award, is for health care colleagues to nominate nurse(s)/midwife(ves) they work with.
Consumer Appreciation Award is for health care consumers to nominate a nurse or midwife who excels in their role.

These awards are designed to recognise excellence. Excellence can be an exceptional talent, quality or commitment that surpasses usual standards, with the nurse or midwife consistently going above and beyond to make a difference.

For example:
- Delivering the highest standard of evidence based care;
- Providing person centred care and compassion in all aspects of practice;
- Demonstrating professionalism and leadership;
- Active involvement to grow future nursing and midwifery leaders;
- Sharing knowledge to enhance care and further the professions;
- Quietly achieving amazing outcomes;
- Embedding values and integrity in daily practice.
Nomination Evaluation Process

Short-listing and final judging panel includes nursing and midwifery leaders, health care professionals and consumers.

All nomination will first be ranked by the short-listing panels based on the selection criteria. Shortlisted nominees will then be reviewed by the judging panel, considering each nomination, nominee statement and reference.

2027 General Awards

Nominations must demonstrate how the nominee surpasses expectations in their current role/s and levels of experience.
To nominate for the general awards:

Obtain organisational support
- Secure endorsement from your Director of Nursing/Midwifery, Head of School, or Service Manager (as applicable).
- Download and complete the required form: Endorsement of Nomination form
- Attach the completed form to your nomination
Submit nominee statement
- The nominee must complete a supporting statement to provide further insight for the judging panel.
- Download and ask the nominee to complete the form: Nominee Statement form
- Attach the returned form to your nomination.
Please provide a comprehensive and compelling response to each of the selection criteria listed below. Where possible, include specific examples to illustrate the nominee’s achievements and impact. The strength and detail of these responses will play a key role in determining whether the nominee is short listed.

2027 Lifetime Achievement Honour
I am aware that I am required to keep my nomination confidential, and not to discuss with anyone including the nominee or the referees I am providing details of.
Please provide a strong and detailed nomination statement that highlights the nominee’s exceptional contributions to the nursing and/or midwifery professions. The statement should clearly demonstrate why the nominee is deserving of recognition through a Lifetime Achievement Honour Award.

Consider the following:
